How To Access Axis Camera System

From the TO Station

  • Use the KVM extender. Entry #8, labeled Video, will give you access to the Axis Video server. Log in with your AD username and password.
  • Use the wall mounted TV and wireless keyboard. There's a small PC attached to the wall mounted TV in the control room running Windows. The Axis Control Station client is installed on this PC.
    • If the display is on a different input, like the weather display, then use the the input button on the remote to switch to HDMI 2.
    • Use the wireless keyboard with an integrated touch pad to log in and access the cameras using the Axis Control Station software

From Windows

  • Download the client
    • Download available from https://www.axis.com/products/axis-camera-station#download-block
    • Click the link that says "download"
    • This should scroll you down the page. Select Download Software Update under AXIS Camera Station - Update for server and/or client (Windows 64 bit only)
    • If prompted for "Client" or "Server" during installation, select "Client"

From Linux

  • Use an RDP client. On Zeus, Janus and Juno you can use the utility rdesktop.
    • Open a terminal windows, and at the command line type rdesktop video.het.astronomy.utexas.edu.
    • You should see a Windows login prompt. It should say something like UOT-MCDONALD\secook.
    • Erase everything in the username field and enter HET\<Your new username>. This is the username that I asked you to change the password using the laptop in the Control Room. I would enter HET\secook.
    • The name of the camera system application is Axis Camera Station Client. Open it by using the icon on your desktop.
    • Please logout when done with the application. Do not click the X at the top of the screen, or select "Disconnect" from the shutdown menu. If you disconnect, the next user who logs in will be prompted to disconnect you before logging in.
