  • CCAM

In the event the TO has to leave and the RA is left to shut down the facility, the following steps will ensure the site is in a safe condition.

If uncertain about any steps, do not hesitate to call any of the TO's or Matthew to help walk you through any part.

Step 1: Abort All.

Hit the Abort All button found on the TCS gui.

This button can be found at the top of the TCS GUI at the right side of the dashboard. Hitting this button will stop any active trajectory, engage the tracker brakes, and stop any other motions occurring in the dome.

Step 2: Close the Dome

Go to the legacy tab (or the production tab) and hit Close shutter under the shutter section. This will close the shutter which takes about 3 minutes. Under the shutter section, you will be able to see the status of the shutter and be able to determine when it is closed. The position should read Closed under the shutter sections.

To close the louvers, you will need to go into the dome. When you walk into the dome, take a right and walk until to get to the louver control panel on the wall. The up most left button on the control panel is the toggle switch between Master and Individual. Make sure the switch is pointed to Master so you can close all the louvers at once. Once the toggle switch is at Master, look in the same row to the far right, there is a switch there which says Close'. Press that switch once and this should enable all the louvers to close. This only takes about 15 seconds for the louvers to close. Return to the control room when done.

Step 3: HEFI and CCAS

The HEFI light needs to be turned of in order to preserve it's lifetime. The HEFI light can be turned off from the GUI which is normally found on the JOVE0.1 screen at the TO desk. To turn off the HEFI light, find the light source section to the far upper right of the HEFI GUI. There should be three selections here, HIGH, LOW AND OFF. Select the off section and give it a couple of seconds. The HEFI GUI is a little slow to respond.

To CLOSE CCAS go to the control tower to the right of the TO desk. On the Tracker Display Panel there are two red button near the center. Press the one which reads CCAS SHUTTER closed. This should in theory close the CCAS shutter, but this has not always been in the in the past. Therefore, when you go outside to shut down the compressor in the K-hut in the next step, you will want to visually verify that CCAS is in fact closed by shining a flashlight at CCAS. It should be fairly obvious if the shutter to CCAS is closed, since the interior is white and the exterior is black. If the CCAS shutter is open, you should see the white interior exposed.

Step 4: Structure and Compressor

The air compressor for the structure will need to be shut down, and in order to complete this, you need to go to the Krabbenhut. On your way out to the k-hut, you can check to ensure that the CCAS shutter is closed by shining your flash light up at CCAS. Once inside of the K-Hut, look find the Air compressor switch. It is the device to the right of the Quincy, or the far right corner of the K-Hut. At the top of this, there is a yellow handle you will need to pull down towards you. Once ytou have pulled the handle as far as it can go, hit the Black OFF switch on the device. Caution, the K-Hut can get loud when the Quincy discharges air. Earplugs, if you would like them, can be found in the cabinets at the base of the stair case in the loading bay. Once you are done with shutting down the compressor and ensuring CCAS is closed, return to the control room.

Step 5: Stowing the tracker

On the TCS gui select the tracker tab. On this, a set of arrows will appear with preset tracker positions. If the tab opens and the preset positions are not obviously found, look at the tabs below the velocity and motion section of the tracker tab. Once you have located the present locations for the tracker, select the Home button in the lower center section of the presets. The arrow is labeled home, so it is hopefully fairly obvious which preset to go to. At this point you do not need to do anything more. The tracker does have brakes, but they automatically engaged after 10 minutes of idle time.

Step 6: Stopping ACAM

ACAM is the only camera which needs to be shut down in order to preserve the shutter on it. On the TCS gui, there are several tabs which are detached to their own screens. The ACAM is almost cerntainly going to be one of them. Scan the task bar to find the tap labeled ACQ Camera. Select this and locate the Stop Metrology Loop. Once hit, this button should up date to 'Start Metrology Loop'. If you found the button already in the start phase, then the shutter is not going and no further action is required.

Step 7: Shutting down CCAM

The final task is to shut down CCAM. On the KVM monitor, hit the Scroll lock button twice to reach the selection screen. This button has a white sticker on it in case you are having a difficult time locating it. Once you have hit this button twice a screen listing different computers should come up. Scroll using the up and down arrow keys and select the computer labeled Stratus. On Stratus, the CCAM should already be open. If it is not, open up Microsoft explorer on the desktop and it will open up to the CCAM controls. There are four things to shut down on CCAM. The first it to take it out of tour mode. Under settings (found at the top of the CCAM screen) select preset position listed on the lower left side. This will open up on the Position tab, however you will need to switch to the Tour tab found at the top of the screen. Once you are on the tour tab go to the tour selection and select None. Second step will be to go back to the main screen which shows the live camera feed. On the left side, locate the Preset Position drop down menu and select HET. This will put the camera safely out of the way of the Sun. Third Step You need to go back to settings and select the Camera tab. This will open you on the Common tab, but you will want to use the Picture tab. Select the picture tab at the top of the screen. From here, select the Full Auto Mode and turn Slow Shutter to Off. Fourth Step Go back to the main screen with the live view of the camera and on the lower left, locate the DAY/NIGHT section. Hit the air button the left side and this will switch the camera to day mode.

On your way out, check that all outside doors to leading into HET are secured and locked.
