Procedure for Blue Sky PV Images

  • Turn on the PV camera and restart the PAS server
  • Point structure and dome to north (Azimuth: 0)
  • Make sure SAMS is on and making corrections
  • Open dome shutter, Louvers should be left closed
  • Change the PV "Process" to 'Blue' and uncheck the "Store Images" box on PV camera (So that images are not saving while the exposure time is being figured out)
  • Start Pipeline and images on PV camera
  • Adjust exposure time till the "Blue" PV image is not saturated.
  • Turn PV pipeline off, run command 'autopvtwilight' as user@juno in a terminal window. Follow instructions in script.
  • The script will automatically adjust exposure times for the data collection. No input should be needed from user once tracker starts to move and data is being collected.

  • The script will let you know when data collection is complete and analysis is being done. A recent addition to the script will send the results and notification to TO and Mirror mailing list.
  • Turn off power to the PV camera, to prepare for skyflats (this step may not be necessary once it is decided the PV and CWFS are not contributing light to the FPA).
  • If you do not get a set of data or encounter a problem, e-mail mirror@… and cc to@… notifying that PV were not collected and should be re-attempted as soon as possible.
  • The whole process should take about 20 minutes.

Troubleshooting: If the PV camera image is black with some noise, check if the FCU head is still deployed. The HPF scripts leave it deployed after finishing.

  • mountTest -F
  • h for help
  • q to quit
  • Enter in a # between 1 - 97 to go to different points on sphere
