The plan for 20160315

NOTE: Please don't forget to start recording on Control Desk

Priorities for test are in the order listed in the plan below.

Remember that GC1 is still not working so do not home probes. Any probe you move will be your active probe for the night unless you reset the move history (see Guide Probe procedures)

At the start of the night take a full set of LRS2 calibrations and inspect all images to make sure that everything is working. Report any lamps not working. Follow the procedures found in LRS2 and VIRUS operating procedures

Twilight

Night time activity

  • No short cuts night.
    • Take time to document and record fully and in best detail any problems
    • Document any problems with any standard procedure:

1) Use Go Next (not manual setups)
2) Use tip-tilt on every target (even if that might slow down TCS)
3) Use kill -6 to stop any process you need to stop
4) Use focus curve on every field

  • The goal for tonight should be to learn to offset from LRS2B to LRS2R. This can be done simply with the ACQ and guide probe 2 and the positions given in Current best position for markers
    • Select target and send to TCS
    • Move Target to the lrs2b position on ACAM
    • guide on the ACAM
    • get the guide probe 2 set and well centered
    • start guiding on GC2 and stop guiding on ACAM
    • offset to lrs2r position example syscmd -T 'offset_trajectory(dx_ang=-100, dy_ang=0, adjust_probes="true")'
    • allow the GC2 guider to catch-up and drag the star to the fiducial.
    • look at the final position on the ACAM and determine what values need to change in the dx_ang and dy_ang
    • repeat until you can reliably make this offset at any Az.
    • Note the offset from lrs2r to lrs2b might not be the exact opposite sign as the move lrs2g to lrs2r
  • If you are able to complete this exercise and it is clear please observe several different spetroscopic flux standards near the center of track in both lrs2b and lrs2r
