20160621 Commissioning Plan

Priorities for test are in the order listed in the plan below.

If you can open

Testing WFS pipeline and performance of WFS

  • Stack
  • Select a field to setup on that has lots of stars
  • Select guide stars as usual
  • Select the brightest WFS stars you can find and use USNO catalog (simbad or skycat) and determine magnitudes of WFS stars
  • Setup center WFS stars and save images with exposures longer than 20 second and run "process images" check box on WFS gui
  • Run for 5-10 minutes
  • If temperature stable and you are still near the center of track select another (fainter) set of WFS stars.
  • Else restack or select a new field

Try to get determine the brightest and faintest stars that one can setup on using exposure times between 20 seconds and 60 seconds.

focus curves ACAM version

Purpose: To determine the relative offset between the GC1, GC2 and ACAM. We have already tested the GC positions in 2 positions we should try the 3rd position (at the other end of the range of motion) So try to measure near mid-range and then the opposite end of the range of motion from the test done on 20160620.

Procedure:

  • Stack or adjust GROC
  • Select a rich field such as a globular cluster with stars for both GC1 and GC2
  • Setup on the star and focus with ACAM
  • Take a full data dump including the probe positions
  • Move down in focus by 0.3 mm
  • Note focus position and time stamp (UT time preferred but Unix time ok)
  • Take an image with GC1, GC2, ACAM
  • Adjust focus up by 0.05 mm
  • Step up in focus until you are above the best focus position by 0.3 mm (12 total image sets)

Please try to use the script used on the night 20160620 but perhaps add the DMI status command: syscmd -v -p 'DMI_Status()'

Closed dome engineering tests:

Run long tracks to see what errors occur
