55 * The Structure Air Compressor and Dryer can be in one of two states depending on the position of the yellow -handled valve and power setting on the air dryer. Dryer Power Off and Valve Shut - '''System in OFF State'''

7   a.) Assuming the correct shutdown procedure was followed (red button on compressor control panel not pushed in - see [https://hettrac.as.utexas.edu:8001/trac/WFUCommissioning/attachment/wiki/NightOperations/OPSManaul/Exterior_Inspection/Figure4(1).png Figure 4]).

11   b.) Start opening the yellow-handled valve (from horizontal to vertical position- see [https://hettrac.as.utexas.edu:8001/trac/WFUCommissioning/attachment/wiki/NightOperations/OPSManaul/Exterior_Inspection/Figure6(1).png Figure 6]) but very slowly in case there is a pressure differential between the inlet and outlet of the air dryer.

Start opening the yellow-handled valve (from horizontal to vertical position- see [https://hettrac.as.utexas.edu:8001/trac/WFUCommissioning/attachment/wiki/NightOperations/OPSManual/Exterior_Inspection/Figure6(1).png Figure 6]) but very slowly in case there is a pressure differential between the inlet and outlet of the air dryer.
    1212
13   c.) To start up the system, turn on power to the air dryer by pressing the black button on the control panel labeled "ON" - see [https://hettrac.as.utexas.edu:8001/trac/WFUCommissioning/attachment/wiki/NightOperations/OPSManaul/Exterior_Inspection/Figure6(1).png Figure 6]. This will start the dryer cycle. Shortly after pressing the button, air will vent from one of the dryer towers. Expect to hear a very loud "WUSH" sound as air releases from the tower.

15   d.) Depending on the pressure upstream from the dryer, the compressor may start up immediately or a few minutes later when the pressure has dropped below the startup threshold. Look at the pressure reading on the pressure gauge located the left side of the receiver tank behind the compressor - see [https://hettrac.as.utexas.edu:8001/trac/WFUCommissioning/attachment/wiki/NightOperations/OPSManaul/Exterior_Inspection/Figure3.png Figure 3]. The compressor should start up automatically when the pressure drops below approximately 100psi.

1717  e.) After checking the pressure on the Quincy, check the lights for all the components on the Quincy to the left of the pressure meters. Make sure all lights are responding, and if not be sure to notify the mechanical team so they can replace the burnt out bulb.

2121 * Dryer Power On and Valve Open - '''System is ON State'''
    2222
23    a.) If the power to the dryer is on, the black button on the control panel on the front of the dryer is depressed and the yellow-handle valve on the air dryer is open, the system is already in the ON state - see [https://hettrac.as.utexas.edu:8001/trac/WFUCommissioning/attachment/wiki/NightOperations/OPSManaul/Exterior_Inspection/Figure6(1).png Figure 6].

    2424
2525   b.) In this state, the compressor will most likely be running and the air dryer will cycle between the dryer towers releasing air in a loud "WUSH" approximately every 5 minutes.
    2626
27    c.) If the compressor is not running with the system in the ON state, then the pressure has most likely reached the maximum pressure where the compressor turns off automatically. If the pressure on the pressure gauge on the left side of the air receiver tank behind the compressor (see [https://hettrac.as.utexas.edu:8001/trac/WFUCommissioning/attachment/wiki/NightOperations/OPSManaul/Exterior_Inspection/Figure3(1).png Figure 3]) is between approximately 100psi and 120psi, then this is most likely the case. The compressor should turn on when the pressure on the receiver tank drops below 100 psi.

    29292.) Instrument Air Compressor (Powerex)

3434   b.) Check that power to the Instrument Air Desiccant Dryer is ON. The dryer is located on the wall behind the old Champion Air Compressor.
