Getting Started

1.) Open up the OPS checklist found on the TO Launcher under the Firefox tab. This tab reveals a drop down menu and you will want to select "Checklist"

2.) Read the previous night RA/TO Engineering Report posted in the "McDonald Observatory Hobby-Eberly Telescope TO Report" online. If you do not have the password, obtain it either from Stephan Cook, Jim Fowler or one of the TO's.

3.) Check your email to ensure that any problems reported that night have been addressed and to check if any changes have been made during the day that you will need to know about.

4.) Wait for Day Staff to review with you any new information or changes that have been made. This usually occurs between 4:30pm - 04:45pm CDT and any information passed onto you should be noted and passed on to the incoming TO. The comment section of the OPS checklist is the best place to record this information.

5.) Be aware of any personnel whom may still be working on equipment and inform them that you are about to begin "Ops".

6.) Check the SWAG and AHU numbers and note the numbers in the OPS checklist along with your name and the Day Ops name.

Restarting PFIP and the compactRIO

The servers should be running, but you will want to restart them. Always check with the RA to see if they are at a good point to restart them. If you restart them while the RA is running calibrations, or any part of their "OPS" you could crash their check out.

1.) Start the TO Launcher by clicking the TO Launcher icon on the task bar of the desktop. Go to Operations > Start APC GUI

2.) Go to the APC GUI and locate the power button for the compactRIO under the PFIP section. It should be listed PFIPContrlr.

3.) Power it off and wait 15 seconds before turning it back on again.

4.) Wait for all the buttons on the PFIP/FCU control/status tab to power off (make sure to start TCS GUI). Once everything has powered off, go ahead and power them on again.

5.) When everything has been powered on, restart all the TCS servers and the TCS GUI.

6.) To check that each server did restart correctly, go to the TO launcher and select monitor TCS Logs. Check each one of the five logs to make sure they correctly restarted.

The next step you will want to do is the TCS Check out: TCS Check Out and Trajectories
