Overlap Policy for Night Staff

All night staff members are expected to show up at the telescope the night before their shift begins, assuming that it is safe to do so. The purposes of the overlap are:

• Find out the status of the facility
• Determine what targets or tests are high priority for the following night
• Review night reports (with emphasis on the PR reports)
• Catch up with e-mails, policy changes, and temporary procedure changes

If the night staff member can not make it to the telescope then the employee must call and talk to the RA and TO on duty to find out the above information. If the night staff on duty does not hear from the overlapping night staff person then they must send an e-mail to that night staff person and CC the night staff supervisor. This is to ensure that there is no confusion the next day about who is coming on duty.
