    v2 v3
1313In lieu of the recent “weather closure” called by the Superintendent at !McDonald Observatory, some clarification and distinction needs to be addressed regarding the night staff.  The following standard operating procedure (SOP) will be implemented in the event of a “weather closure”:
1414 1. The day-time T.O. and operation engineer staff will follow the protocol given to the day staff at McD for the afternoon.  For example, if excused absence is granted to day staff for a full day or for the afternoon, then the day-time T.O. and ops staff will also be excused.   Absences granted for just the morning should not be included in day-time T.O. or ops staff time sheets.
15  2. The night time staff will report to work as scheduled, unless otherwise determined by the supervisor or his designee that weather and road conditions pose a hazard.  In the event this is determined, the R.A. and T.O. will be contacted and advised of the conditions.  The T.O. and R.A. should fill in their respective night reports the next opportunity the road conditions allow travel to the facility.
