Priorities for the nights is Full science using LRS2 or VIRUS.

In one case we would like to use Parallel scripts to take science frames.

Twilight

Take LRS2 cals and specialtwilight VIRUS cals at the start of the night

  • Setup on Capella on DIMM even at the start of the night during stacking.

Setups

  • I have been placing the shuffle setups in /home/mcs/astronomer/17-1/
  • Be sure to use shuffle_config_matt4 to setup files for do_shuffle
  • I have been using lrs2g to find guide stars to move from LRS2B/R to LRS2R/B

Priority Targets

Get a quickly tightened stack so that you can get

  • Index 897/898 M17-1-001 Holm15A with good guide star by home7 mpg -cp and GC2 at 00:42:27.032 -09:16:52.84 . On ACAM use unmarked brightest star in field at 479, 617 for setup for LRS2-B.

Complete the stack and then

During Dark time

  • Observe two UT17-1-015 targets per track, ie. start at the beginning of the track

With any moon

  • Observe one of the UT17-1-011 targets, preferably the one with the lowest Pri, e.g. 1 before 1.1 and 1.1 before 1.3

General suggestions:

  • Disable PSU17-1-002 in htopx. These are very short targets probably only to be done as filler as you wait for something else to start.
  • Disable PSU17-1-005 in htopx. There are lots of these but they are long. Only start observing them in a hole in the queue.

Notes on Calibrations and Standards

  • Only need Telluric standards on LRS2-R, not for LRS2-B
  • I have been breaking the long set of cals into different parts to fit them in during stacking.
  • Several of the spectrophotometric standards have bad coordinates so setups can be tricky. We need to update these coordinates.
