= Troubleshooting = == Missing mirrors in the reference measurement of AOA == The ultimate goal here is for the mirror locations for each mirror to be in a file called mirror_locations.txt on the wave computer in the location C:\aoa\mirror_locations.txt. Step 1: Obtain a spot image of the reference grid. - under the wavescope software go to the menu selection Alignment->Manual, select the "Show Spot Image" under the Reference Source. - snap an image using the command "snap " (this will save the image in E:.fits) Step 3: Check spot locations - ds9 /home/mars/guider/wave/.fits - see if the spot locations are close to existing mirror_locations.txt. - you can quickly determine the xy coordinate of largest pixel value at the location you're looking by going to Regions > Shape > Projection and then clicking and dragging the cursor over the spot. This show a plot of those pixel counts and their xy coordinates. - adjust the mirror locations file with the coordinates from the plot for the associated mirror. - you may want to copy over the mirror_locations.txt to E as well to make this go faster. Step 4: Create new spot locations if needed - (iraf stuff) Step 5: Copy the new mirror_locations.txt to the AOA software directory - place a copy of the new file in /home/mars/guider/wave/mirror_locations.txt and /home/mars/guider/wave/mirror_locations_YYYYMMDDCDD.txt e.g. mirror_locations_20181222C13.txt where the last digits are for the temperature. - go to the wave computer, open up the shortcut to aoa - rename the current mirror_locations.txt to mirror_locations.txt-old - navigate to the E: drive, copy the two new files to the aoa directory Step 6: restart the wavescope software if needed.
